Los Angeles-based Antik Denim, owned by Blue Holdings, Incorporated, was formed in 2004 by designers Alexandre Caugant and Philippe Naouri and "denim tycoon" Paul Guez. Caugant and Naouri worked together for 20 years and shared a love of and an affinity for vintage denim fashion, an interest in denim retailing and blind ambition to reach the top of the denim game. They also grew up together in the South of France, where, incidentally, they developed their hankering to attain the American Dream of the jeans variety: denim dominance. And they are on their way with their uber-cool Antik Denim.
The designers set their label apart from the rest by giving each pair of jeans individual attention. They're made with exclusive Japanese and Italian fabrics, and each pair is individually decorated with hand-wrought embroidery, patchwork and patent-pending pockets. The extra work shows. Antik Jeans can be spotted from miles away - the detailed, eye-popping, and often colorful designs on the back pockets make what would otherwise be an ordinary pair of jeans over the top and glamorous.
p>In addition to jeans, Antik offers vintage-styled t-shirts, boots and belts. In other words, you could put together an entire outfit of Antik Denim. Exciting, no? You can see Antik threads on any number of Hollywood stars as well as in stylish print ads in magazines like, Vogue, Vanity Fair, and InStyle, and gracing the sides of New York City yellow cabs. Antik Denim was featured in gossip rag In Touch Weekly as one of Hollywood's must-have denim looks.
As of know, you can only get the Antik Jeans and the other duds I mentioned above, but expect to see jewelry, shoes and other products, childrens clothing, an Elvis Presley-inspired collection (hmm, I'll have to see that to understand it), and two new lines that are pretty self-explanatory: Antik Kargo and Antik Vintage.
The company owns a flagship store on super-swanky Melrose Avenue in Los Angeles, but you can find Antik's one-of-a-kind clothes, t-shirts and novelties at luxury retail stores like Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue, Bloomingdales, Barneys, Neiman Marcus, and the ever-popular Kitson. The products are also sold in independent online fashion stores and fine retail stores located in Canada, Mexico, the United Kingdom and throughout Europe, Japan, Brazil, Israel, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates, South Africa, and Korea.
